THE CAT GODDESS

This stamp from the Empire of Amphora depicts

Bastus, or Bast, the cat goddess of ancient Egypt.

This whimsical rendition relates to the styles of art

seen in the ceramic folk art of the Mediterranean,

of Sardinia and elsewhere.

This ceramic sculpture was painted with natural

earth pigments, gathered in the Feather Falls area

of Butte County, California. It is one of many such

figurines that I have created over the years.
