The Lore of the Sylph
A sylph is considered to be a spirit of air (or of fire and air).
The term was invented by Paracelsus, and has subsequently
entered into the lore of fairies.
Some thinkers place the Sylph above the astral plane and
into the mental plane. In the spirituality of the Theosophists
the mental plane is the dimension favored by creative
thought.
Alice A. Bailey in her
Treatise on Cosmic Fire, describes
the mental plane as a plane of the electrical fire of mind.
My artist friend, Bobbi Parker, sculpted a sylph, who she
said was a fire spirit, of a realm much higher than the elves
she created in ceramics.
