LES ETATS BARBARU
The Barbaru States, or Les Etats Barbaru, was the name of an old pirate federation along the Barbaru Coast. The Wench's Mint on Pelly's Nest, an island operated by the infamous pirate captain, was the most prolific stamp producer in the region.
Included in this federation were Pelly's Nest, Skag Dog Republic, the Mukka Republic, Kiklop Ada, and Rotter's Pit.

The Kiklop Ada Post, an enclave of Turkish pirates was run by Saddiya al Hurra, a famous female Turkish pirate. The stamps of this island show various Turkish pirates.
Francois Ducat, a French pirate, allied with the Turks appears on the cover below, unfortunately damaged by sea water.

The only remaining stamp cover from Rotter's Pit is seen above. It was damaged by sea water on the same voyage as the Kiklop cover above.....Kiklop, by the way, is the Turkish designation of the Cyclops.
