The Allegory of the Turquoise Garden

Turquoise, having a delicate shade of light blue,
symbolizes devotion of a spiritual character. In the
image above a fairy queen is in ecstasy, having
arrived in a mystic valley where the leaves of
plants are blue.

Pano Maidem, Bear Man
CONCOW MAIDU SHAMANIC LORE

The Concow Maidu Indians of Butte County, California, often
times call one of their traditional healing doctors "Pano Maidem,"
or "Bear Man."  The shamans in the old days would dress up in the
hide of a black bear before approaching a sick person. The doctor
would growl like a bear to "scare away" the sickness in the patient.

The Waterbearer, Symbol of Aquarius

A crystal tower from the sea appears in this drawing.
This is the perfect tower, the penultimate beacon. It
supplants all false and poorly constructed edifaces. It
ushers in the realm of communication. It's diamond
matrix is the substratum of enlightened energy.

The Seamaids and Mermen
THE BLUE SKINNED DEITIES

Hindu and Buddhist divinities are often depicted with
blue skin. Asiatic religious iconography would not be
complete without it's waterlotuses. The Pushpaka, or
lotus seat, is the lotus from which many a god or goddess
is said to have been born.

The crown chakra, said to be the highest spiritual center,
is called Sahasrara. Sahasrara is the thousand petalled
lotus.

The mermaid in the art above is opening the crown chakra
of the merman, awakening his spiritual powers.

The Mergods and Mergoddesses

Are mermaids and mermen gods or goddesses? The
lore of the ancient world is filled with stories of oceanic
or freshwater divinities.

In Greece, for example, the divinities are all said to be
the children of Oceanos, the Ocean.

The Incas were said to be among the Foam-Born,
the Viracochas, said to be dolphin spirits born of Lake
Titicaca, a lake that though high in the Andes, still has
salt water and seahorses like the sea.

King Ler, the Sea King, was chief of old Irish Gods.
Queen Aebh, pronounced "eev," was his bride.

The Rainbow Serpent, Aquatic God of the Salt Sea

The Australian Aborigines worship the Rainbow Snake as
Kunmanngur. The sound of the djeridu is the sound of the
ocean waves, crashing on the shore. His male children were
made stones and set near springs inland, while the daughters
of Rainbow Serpent remain in the salt sea. Such spirits are
called Ngarit-Ngarit, recalling the Nagas, or seaserpent
demigods of India. Fish and seaweed are created by the
djeridu.

The inland Aborigines place the Rainbow Snake at pools
in the desert, and symbolize him as a spiral.

Marija Gimbutas speaks of the spiral as an ancient symbol
of water in Eastern Europe. The association is to water
snakes.

An Early Earth Painting From the 1970's
PAINTS MADE FROM NATURAL MATERIALS

This work harkens to a degree to the arts of the
Aborigines of Australia. In fact, it was painted with
a stick brush, much as the Australians do. In the
light angle chosen to photograph this work, the heavy
impasto paint stands out clearly in well defined light
and shadow.

crowned Hierophant.

Jaguar Woman
A COMMEMORATIVE STAMP FROM AMPHORA

The Amphoran Postal Union, in it's series of stamps
featuring Goddess icons, did not forget the heritage
of Mesoamerica.

Jaguar Woman is a sculpture created by the Postmaster
General of Amphora, who also happens to be the stamp's
designer, printer, perforator, and gummer.

The gum recipe of the Amphorans is a state secret of
the Empire of Amphora.

The hieroglyphs in this stamp's margins were transcribed
from the doorway of the Temple of the Jaguar, found
somewhere in the remote jungles of artistic imagination.

Mer, the Mother, a Prototypical Mermaid Goddess
STAMPS FROM THE MICRONATION OF AMPHORA

Many Egyptian queens were named Mer. The word means
both sea and mother. Many mermaid designations originated
with Mer. Thus we have Mari, Merreminde, Mary, Myrrha,
Moera, Moira, etc.

This stamp shows a small figurine that I created from clay. I
painted it with earth paints, from pigments that I gathered in
nature.
