THE STAMP COLLARS OF BINDU

Stamp collars were first invented in the 19th century. Typically they are oversize stamps with a blank area intended for the mounting of a regular postage stamp, which then is cancelled by the post office. Sometimes collars are preprinted on envelopes.

Stamp collars are frequently used for advertisements or for fundraising. They are related to poster stamps, which are non-postal stamps created for advertising products, events and ideas.
