Archetypes of the Aquatic Dimension
Cephalus of the Sea is a figurative ceramic sculpture rendered
in small format. It is an example of my ceramic amulets, which
I have created since the beginning of my current three dimensional
artistic endeavors.
I began in earnest to work in the ceramic medium, not as a potter,
but a sculptor in 1988. I never worked with molds, but always
handbuilt each piece. Frequently I have utilized natural earth
pigments that I have gathered in nature as final pigmentation of
my ceramic works.
The amulets seen here are patinated with carbonates and oxides.

A MERMAID AMULET
Undines, or mermaids, have been a special mythological interest of mine.
I wrote a book a number of years back entitled, 'The Mystery of the Mermaids:
My amulets, or pendants, have been created to serve in ceramic jewelry.
The amulet below is patinated with iron oxide.
