The Mutations of the Seahorse
This sculpture delves into the shamanic sphere of shape
shifting and metamorphosis. The Seahorse is considered
to be kindred to the chimaera, a being that is a composite
of many animals. Many emblems from heraldry partake of
the symbolic mutations that are exemplified in the Seahorse.
One often sees the blending of lion, eagle, and dragon in the
symbolic iconography of alchemical science.
