Ethnic Influences in Figurative Art
In this work I aspired to incorporate what I had learned from
the art of autochthonous peoples, and create a figurative work
that recalls the tribal arts of mankind.
I have long admired the work of the Mexican artist, Rufino
Tamayo. Perceptive viewers could draw a few analogies to
Tamayo's figurative abstractions and the color and design of
my Quaternary Man.
Quaternary Man recalls a turtle to a degree. This may be
a secondary analogy, as it was not the prime idea at the
outset in formulating this work of art.
