A PRIEST OF ATLANTIS

This mixed media painting depicts an Atlantean priest holding a
tablet with an image of the Goddess.

Seven flat-topped pyramids, rendered in a whimsical architectural
geometry, are arranged about him--all in bright colors.

The rugged texture of this work is created by utilizing some
very coarse grained earth pigments mixed with polyvinyl
resin. I scumbled wax over the earth pigments to give them
resist properties, before moving on with the application of
aqueous media.

AZTLAN AND THE MYSTERY OF THE BASQUES

Aztlan is, of course, the ancient island said by the Aztecs to
be the land of their origin. Many Atlantean theorists regard
the so-called New World, or Mesoamerica, to be Atlantis.

Other views include the idea that Atlantis was an island
continent in the Altantic Ocean, now sunk. A few say that
the isle of Thera in the Aegean Sea, long ago partially
destroyed by vulcanism, might be the true Atlantis.

I talked to a Venezuelan gentleman who said that the
Basques of Spain speak a language with strong correlations
to Mayan. They also have a ballgame not dissimilar to a
Mayan game. An archeologist told me that Basque rock
inscriptions in Greenland predate Viking or Irish inscriptions.
Thus we do know that the Basques got around a bit as
seafarers. But I do not have any data on the dating of the
Basque inscriptions in Greenland. Commonly Atlantis is
dated 10,000 years ago. But even this dating could be off
if one takes the position that Atlantis was Mesoamerican.
The Basque language is well known to be a strange language,
not related to any other in Europe.

There are thousands of articles and books on the subject of
the lost continent of Atlantis, which topic has been popular
since the days of Plato.
