A STAMP FOR THE SELKIES OF DELPHYS

The design above shows the spirit of Bobbie Burns
above his mystic mount, "the Spaviet Pegasus."
Spaviet means spavined in Scottish dialect.

("Spavined" is defined as swayback, indicating a
horse with a poor spinal alignment.)

This stamp was issued especially in honor of the
colony of Scottish seals that live on the north coast
of Delphys. They came to Delphys in the great
selkie migration a hundred years ago. Bobbie
Burns wrote of the "spaviet Pegasus"  in his
poetry, which is the Scottish selkies' favorite
literature.

The selkies, of course, are the mermaids of
Scottish, Irish and Shetland lore. One of
the favored manifestations of the selkie is
embodiment as a seal. However selkies are
described as shape shifters and can take a
great number of forms.

THE POSTAL VALIDITY OF THE STAMPS OF DELPHYS

This stamp and all others from Delphys are
valid for postage across the Empire.

As to whether the Universal Postal Union
recognizes the Delphys Postal Administration is
another matter. The Empire of Delphys is a
member of the Amphoran Postal Union, and
as such mail from Delphys is honored on the
continent of Amphora.
