A NEW VISION OF THE GODDESS VENUS

Botticelli's Venus is a very well-known image. In my
version there is no clam shell, but rather a cowrie, which
is regarded as a shell especially sacred to the feminine
principle.

The drawing in the stamp design above is colored by
hand. The border elements were generated on an
antique 1980's word processor, utilizing the Print
Master program. So we are not looking at computer
art here, so much as a collage technique, utilizing glue
and scissors and inks. A photocopier provided the
multiple black and white drawings. The final stamp
was printed on a color laser printer.
