A Sheet of Fairy Faux Postage Stamps

These stamps depict the good fairy Timberlina as she is going off for

work in the morning. Being a Fairy Queen has it's duties. Today she

must sit for yet another portrait in oils. Yesterday the carvers in marble

needed her for the whole afternoon.

Timberlina's main respite are the comforting  hours she spends working

on her stamp collection.

This issue from the art of Eric Whollem has incorporated a bit of Russian

Fairytale Art illustration. The border design elements are very Russian,

yet transmuted through the focus of Constructivism.

The Mermaid's Benediction

These issues from the Undinian Royal Post Office and Wharfside

Telegraph depict the Birth of Aphrodite. Mermaids historically are

regarded as protectors and saviors. Even the Sirens from Homer's

'Odyssey' were acting as beneficent agents of the Gods, as Odysseus

was a black pirate and a murderer. The Sirens were originally the

daughters of the god of the River Achelous, and properly are thus

Naiads, or freshwater beings. They performed the function of the

Chorus of the Naiads in the Eleusinean Mysteries.

These stamps were issued to promote the ideal of Clean Water for

the Planet. My stamps from Undinian, a fantasy mermaid country,

are what are called 'cinderella stamps' by stamp collectors.

The Undinian Post Office attempts to promote the ideal of 'Stamp

Duty' in the minds of the populace of the kingdom. These stamps

are utilized for both postage and revenue by the government. The

Wharfside Telegraph in Nereidia utilizes these stamps for payment

of service fees. Documentary revenues, as applied to deeds of trust,

are also paid for with appropriate numbers of Undinian stamps.

A Visualization for the New World

These stamps from the United Aethernet Nations are part of my
micronational project involving positive affirmations for the New
Age. A 'micronation' is a country developed by an imaginative
artist--a fantasy realm.

Basically I depict the Rainforest as it should be: lush and verdant,
flowers in full bloom--with a wood nymph proferring her blessing.

The art here is digitial serial art, showing those color and textural
variations found on computer graphic programs. My color sense on
the pair of stamps above is decidedly 'fauvist' or 'expressionistic.'

THE AMPHORAN POSTAL UNION

The Amphoran Postal Union which sponsors these designs is so named
because the old name for Aquarius is Amphora. The Waterbearer,
which is the symbol of Aquarius, is usually depicted holding an
amphora, or water vessel. In the early 2000's I developed a number
of micronations from the Continent of Amphora, such as Amphitritonia,
Undinia, Merreminde and Delphys. Amphora also has issued cinderella
stamp editions, often featuring my ceramic sculptures.

The United Aethernet Nations utilizes the city of New Urak in Amphora
as it's international headquarters. The Amphoran Postal Union
is similar to the Universal Postal Union, in that it regulates the mails
between member nations, which in this case are, of course, my own
imaginary stamp issuing countries. Not all of these countries are on
the Continent of Amphora; many are islands. Urissakzillia is on the
Continent of Eronyk. The Republic of the Moon is in Outer Space.

Instead of bemoaning the defoliation of the forests of the world, the
United Aethernet Nations, guided by fairy wisdom, seeks to promote
a beneficent future through the mystic process of creative vision.

See Wikipedia's article on Affirmations, if you will.

The Aethernet

The 'aethernet' as I use the term applies to the realm of fairy related

information found on the internet. This also is inclusive of psychic

or spiritual data that relates to the astral and mental planes.

The term 'aethernet' should not be confused with the 'ethernet' which is

the realm of purely elecronic data systems.

The Aether is an older expression used to describe the heavenly realms;
it is utilized also to describe that world in which fairies have their being.
The word Ether has had a variety of meanings over the years in accord
with changing scientific nomenclature. The Hindus anciently conceived
the Ether as the dimension of Sabda or Sound Vibrations.

The Waterbearer: The Sign of Aquarius

According to astrologers we are entering on the Age of Aquarius.

The 'Waterbearer' is a symbol of the Aquarian Age.

I have developed a faux postage concept surrounding the United

Aethernet Nations, a micronational organization dedicated to

the betterment of conditions on earth.

Many metaphysical thinkers regard the coming planetary alignment

of our solar system with a portal to a New Age. . .of advanced

communications and increased interconnectedness among mankind.

See my stamp issues from the United Aethernet Nations for more

of my interpretations of the current metaphysical milieu.

Mermaid Stamps by Eric Whollem

Numerous stamps from Mermaid realms can be found on the

links below. Other stamps are on my files and will be published

on my blog from time to time.

A few years back I wrote a book, entitled, 'The Mystery of the

Mermaids: Goddesses and Gods of the Sea.' Mermaids have

appeared in my art since the 1970's. My view of the mermaid

and merman is that they are angelic spirits. The ancient Greeks

regarded the Nereid, or mermaid of the salt sea, as a savior of

sailors lost at sea.

Mermaids of inland places, or the Naiads, are prophetic spirits.

The mermaid on this stamp from Merreminde is a Nereid.

The Selkie, is a Celtic mermaid, conceived of as a shape

shifter.

METAPHYSICAL ARTIST STAMPS/ Jacob Boehme: Mystic Traditions/ Cinderella Stamps by Eric Whollem/ United Aethernet Nations/ VISIONARY CYBERSTAMPS FOR THE NEW AGE/ Faux postage stamps from a fantasy micronational organization dedicated to world peace

The Mystic Sun

Traditions of Mysticism: Jacob  Boehme

The famous European mystic Jacob Boehme spoke of the unity with

God in terms of the mystic 'sun of night.' This paradoxical phrase

exemplified-- in terms intelligible to people of his day-- a way of

talking about the unspeakable: the ultimate mystery of Godhead.

The Zen Buddhists are well known for paradoxical approaches to

metaphysical questions. Paradox is never valued in itself, but is

used to gear the spiritual aspirant from clinging to verbal expressions.

Words are viewed as not so important as the inner peace of

contemplation.
