THE GOAT CART DELIVERY SERVICE OF OGYGIA

Ogygia, being a remote island, had to be innovative when it came to mail delivery. As goats were quite common on the island, it seemed logical to use them for mail transport....The only difficulty was being sure that the goats were properly fed before venturing forth on the treacherous mountain trails of Ogygia.

Postage due was seldom seen among Ogygian letters, as the funds surcharged for axel grease, ruminant relief funds, and goat fodder more than made up for insufficient postage.

A map of Ogygia appears on the stamps reproduced here. Historians from ancient Greece to the modern Middle Ages preoccupied themselves with developing a history of Ogygia, which has been located as far afield as Gozo in the Maltese Archipelago to the mid-Atlantic Ocean.

Professor Cudley and his co-worker M.V.Scroobic are famous in the Republic of the Moon for having established numerous National Monuments and Parks on the moon, for the delight of the Loonese population.

This letter was sent from the colony of refugees from the Moon, who in the latter days returned to the earth, where they established The City of the Moon, an independent state in the Barbaru Highlands of Southeastern Amphora.

Stamps on the cover above are inscribed 'Memories of the Moon,' part of an ongoing series of stamp issues by the Loonese Post.

PLATYTUDINOUS MOROXON

Moroxon, a famous scientist on the Moon, is known for his invention of the Loonese Perfinator, a device utilized to add security perfins to stamps from the lunar post office. He appears on the stamps on the cover above.

He later established his own republic on the Dark Side of the Moon. This he called Syzygium. New Syzygium is a town in the north of the City of the Moon colony in Amphora. In was in New Syzygium that Moroxon retired in his old age.

QUANTUS QWO

The large purple stamp on the cover above shows Quantus Qwo, the first Postmaster of the Moon....After the return to earth, he became the first postmaster of The City of the Moon.

His magnum opus has been an ongoing treatise on the known  and unknown stamps of the Universe.

The stamps above celebrate Phobos and Deimos, the moons of Mars.

A LETTER TO THE POSTMASTER OF GONDWANALAND

Gwog, postmaster of Gondwanaland, centuries in the future was transported to the Moon, where, learning the art of Time Travel, established colonies on Pluto and the Moons of Neptune....At long last he decided the climate was better on Alternative Earth, and ventured to Amphora to establish a new country, Gwogtonia.

This letter, sent via Retroactive Delivery, may well have ended up in the Dead Letter Office of the Moon, caught in a Time Warp.

A stamp from the Loonese Remnant on the Moon appears on the lower left hand corner of this letter.
The Loonese, of course, are the inhabitants of the Moon, who reduced in numbers by the recent migrations to the Barbaru Highlands of Amphora, maintained a skeleton crew on the Moon, now an orb dangerously low on pizza and oxygen. 

The letter was Censored for unknown reasons, no doubt relating to sensitive matters of State. LOL
