Blissful Spirits

The imaginary beings in this painting are related to
the sort of imagery that one finds in the pictographic
arts of peoples such as the Huichol Indians of Mexico.


The Hopi Indians say that their Kachinas can be clouds,
mountains, animals, trees. The joyous "elementals" (or
spirits) in this work are my own version of such entities.
