PIRATED PIRATE MAIL

This cover is an example of what happens when mail is sent from one pirate enclave to another. Such letters often end up in the private collections of the  postal inspectors.

This letter was sent to the Skag Dog Republic. The inspector marks read: 'Retained for the Collection of the Skag Postal Inspector.' The collection stamp of the Mutt Postal Museum in Wuff Bay can be seen on this letter. Item number 1-Q.

Some of the cancels used by Queen Pelly's postal administration include impressions from archaic coins in her extensive coin collection, which she keeps in a hidden chest somewhere on Pelly's Isle.

Above is a classic cover from Pelly's Isle, showing the first  postal issue of the enclave, a triangle stamp, here cancelled by  an ancient Knight's Templar coin, utilized as a postal mark.

This missive was sent by Paquebot to an address in Transylvania. Postage due is indicated by the 'T' cancel.

This cover uses an old French coin as well as a Hispanic Dollar, for cancels. The Hispanic coin was widely used by pirates for their pieces of eight, which were wedges chopped from the Spanish dollar.

This is another example of Pelly's 'Officious Pirate Mail.'

Pelly's stamp here reads: "Mine yer own Cussed Biznis.'  A not so subtle warning to the foes of Les Etats Barbaru.

The cover here has a cachet commemorating a great battle waged against the ships of Tebu Island, who dared raid Pelly's Isle.

The cover was received in Klop's Isle (the common designation of Kiklop, the Turkish pirate enclave which is often regarded as the capital of Les Etats Barbaru.) Kiklop means 'cyclops' in Turkish.

The Klop's Isle map stamp shows the location of the Skag Dog Republic, but Pelly's Isle is further to the east. The map stamp is cancelled with an old Spanish coin, long used in the Barbaru region. The blue cancel in Arabic Script is another old talisman of the Turkish pirates.
