SHAMANISM IN THE AMERICAS

The jaguar is sacred in many cultures in Mesoamerica.
Jaguar shamans are highly respected.

The jaguar spirit in Mexico was called a 'nagual,' an being that
would protect the shaman as he travelled to different dimensions.
As such the jaguar was indeed a 'medicine animal.'
