KUKSU CULTURAL ELEMENTS

This painting fancifully portrays the spirit of Aki, the duck.
Aki is a sacred bird of the Concow Maidu Indians. He is featured
in the ceremonies of the Kuksu Dream Society.

Koi, the goose, is the sacred bird of Hipiningkodom, the Valley of
Heaven.

A special dance for Aki is part of traditional culture of the Concow
Maidu Indians of Butte County, California.
