The Old Tradition of Ceramic Boats

Archaeology gives us many examples of ceramic boats and ships.
The above work is one example of the numerous clay boats I
have made over the years. Insofar as much of my ceramic work
leans towards aquatic symbolism, this was a natural development
in my art.

The above work incorporates stylized "shields" along the side of
the boat. They are held in place by leather cord.
