ORANGES, MERMAIDS AND IMAGINATION

This stamp depicts in the upper left hand corner a classic
stamp of Atlantis, a mother country of the Delphysians.

The mermaid on this stamp is Imagination, Queen of
the Mermaids, known as Queen Madge on a more familiar
basis. Madge is one of a number of Queens who swear
loyalty to the Fairy Empress Persephone XXXIII, chief
ruler of the Empire of Delphys.

The Orange Sea is so named because it is a curious blend
of sunlight, fire and water.

There is an annual event in Cetacea, the capital of Delphys.
It is The Day of Oranges. Queen Madge leads a tournament
of songster seals, who dance to the tune of the Selkie Waltz.
The seals also amuse the crowds with their renditions of old
favorites.

Tourists from Amphitritonia, Amphora, Undinia and
elsewhere come in droves for this annual event. Some
come from places as far away as Venus Colony in
Inner Earth.

Other tasks of the Queen of Imagination include attending to
her vaults of jewels accumulated by her predecessors, the lineage of
the royal family of the Empire of Delphys. She also has a
rather large forune in sea combs, traded from across the Seven
Seas. Her Palace of Mirrors at the bottom of the Orange Sea
is her favorite place of all, featuring a huge collection of
waterproof stamps from mermaid countries around the world.
